Umhlobo Wenene FM is a broadcast radio station in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, providing Xhosa language News, Sports and Entertainment. Broadcasting to people who understand Xhosa, the second largest population group in South Africa, Umhlobo Wenene Fm is second largest radio station in the South Africa.
UMhlobo Wenene FM has done it again with 8 awards this time. Out of the 13 nominations the station took home 8 awards. Saturday night was one of the nights where radio stations were recognised by the industry for their hard work in the Liberty Radio Awards held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg previous weekend. In previous years the station collected numerous awards, including Best Drama and Station of the year.

The station again took the trophy for the Station Of The Year, the award that it had previously received in 2014. Umhlobo Wenene FM Station Manager, Mr Phumzile Mnci speaking live on one of the station’s biggest shows BEE this morning said “I can’t find better words to express my excitement with these awards. This is a result of team work and commitment, whenever we achieve we do not forget our loyal listerners.” While speaking, Mr Mnci was surrounded by his management and the team in studio holding the awards with huge smiles, singing and ululating at the same time.
